AML & compliance.

How we verify who trades here, and the checks a diamond passes before it is listed.

Our position

The diamond trade runs on trust, and trust needs checking. Gemora operates a trade-only marketplace with verification at the door, ongoing monitoring inside it, and records kept for as long as the law requires.

Know your counterparty

◆Business registration and proof of trading address.
◆Identification of directors and beneficial owners.
◆Trade references, and certification history where relevant.
◆Screening against applicable sanctions and watch lists, repeated periodically.

Rough diamonds and the Kimberley Process

Rough diamonds may only be listed where they are accompanied by a valid Kimberley Process certificate, and members must pass the System of Warranties statement down the chain on every invoice.

We will remove listings, and close accounts, where that chain cannot be evidenced.

Monitoring

Trading patterns are monitored for the behaviours that typically indicate laundering — structured payments, rapid resale at implausible values, or third parties paying for goods they never take delivery of. Unusual activity is reviewed by a person, not only by a rule.

Reporting

Where we are required to report a suspicion to the relevant authority, we do so, and we may be prohibited by law from telling the account holder that we have.

Records

Verification documents, trading records and screening results are retained for the statutory period in each jurisdiction we operate in, and produced to regulators on lawful request.

Raising a concern

If you believe goods or funds on the platform are not what they appear to be, write to compliance@gemora.one. Reports are treated confidentially.
